OUR TEAM OF ACTORS IS EXPANDING 〰️
Hey there!
We are The Boom Room and we create immersive simulation experiences for people looking to build soft skills in their life.
Check out our main website here.
For our clients, we provide a safe space to enter realistic situations and rehearse high-stakes moments. Whether it’s practicing assertiveness or boundary making, they get to experiment with their unique communication styles in real-to-life conversations with pro actors before applying them in the real world.
Think of it like an athlete—they practice techniques, strategies, and skills in an empty gym before taking their talents in front of a crowd.
We’re that gym, but for soft skills.
Who We’re Looking For
Skilled actors of all ages, demographics, and locations who can improvise
Those with (ideally) weekday and Saturday availability during working hours
Expectations
We want to add you to our roster and call on you as sessions arise (with at least a week’s notice).
As an actor, you’ll take on the role of a realistic, nuanced character in a 10-minute simulated scene with a client. This isn’t overly dramatic or exaggerated reality—subtlety, realism, and improvisation are key.
Each session consists of 2-3 different clients, meaning you’ll play multiple roles in a single booking. In total, that’s around 20 minutes of acting, plus prep and providing feedback. A full session, including preparation, will require approximately 2-2.5 hours.
Tech Requirements
We operate online, so you’ll need:
A good microphone and quality camera
A neutral background and frontal camera angle
No headphones (unless the encounter requires it)
A stable internet connection for smooth video interaction
Pay
We start at €100 per session, which increases depending on case complexity and your experience with us. We also have a paid training to onboard you.
What You’ll Do During A Simulation
Stay fully in character and navigate the scene naturally and authentically (use and respond to body language appropriately)
Improvise within the scene’s parameters while keeping it engaging
Understand the arc of the encounter, knowing when to escalate, when to throw in curveballs or additional information, and when to pull back
Drive realistic encounters forward when working with non actors
Complete a brief feedback sheet after the session
Audition Process
We’d love to see how you handle a realistic, high-pressure encounter. Since our work is improvisational, this audition is a self-taped monologue designed to showcase how you move the scene forward and play with emotional range.
Scenario:
The client is practicing saying no in different ways to build confidence and assertiveness.
Your Role:
You and the client (Jamie) are coworkers at a large company, but you work in different departments and have never met before. You’ve been tasked with convincing Jamie to join your emergency project at the last minute.
You can be apologetic, kind, and slightly embarrassed, but under extreme pressure from your boss, which can show through.
The project requires after-hours and weekend work with no extra pay.
You try to sell it as a great opportunity for Jamie—extra efforts will be noticed by higher-ups, etc.
You vary your conversational style, responding within the spectrum of believability for the circumstance—but show genuine emotion.
Come up with as many angles as possible to convince Jamie without becoming overly dramatic (ie. guilt-trip Jamie about how bad it looks to say no, and how it could be letting the team down, etc.)
Your Objective:
Convince Jamie to agree. Do not take no for an answer.
How to Audition:
Improvise a 3-minute (max) scene that builds in intensity while staying natural.
Use a full emotional range—charm, pressure, disappointment, persuasion, etc.
Submit your audition as an MP4 file or share an unlisted YouTube link (not private).
