In 2023, we took a leap, moving from Canada to Italy.

Let us paint the picture for you:

Julia had a vibrant career in live-performance with over a decade of experience in simulation-based education, working as an actor, trainer, and facilitator. Joe had spent years as a creative director at some of Canada’s top advertising agencies, navigating high-stakes presentations and leading creative teams.

With such public-facing careers, you’d think we’d be confident stepping off the plane. But landing in a country with a new language and culture? It was actually terrifying. We defaulted into becoming ‘yes’ people, always agreeing to avoid the awkwardness of making mistakes. Our fear and self-consciousness had fully taken over.

What we needed was a safe space: a consequence-free zone where we could be “Strong and Wrong,” where we could play, take risks, make mistakes, and practice meeting ourselves in this new context.
What we needed was The Boom Room.

So we built it.

The Boom Room is the solution we wish we’d had: a high-energy, customizable space where individuals can prepare for critical moments, rehearse challenging interactions, and discover a totally new way of building confidence. By combining the principles of simulation-based education with a flexible, innovative approach, we’ve created a method that meets people where they are—and propels them forward.
